Ajoy Mehta, The chairman of Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority shall step down from his role on Sep 21st, 2024. Mehta joined MahaRERA in Feb this year and is an IAS officer (Batch of 1984). As he would be turning sixty-five years, which is the retirement age for chairman’s position.
Manoj Saunik, who is a retired IAS officer from the batch of 1987 will take over as the Chairperson, MahaRERA on Sep 22nd, 2024. Saunik continued as chief secretary till December last year when he retired. The Maharashtra Government has given him several important assignments.
Starting operations in May 2017, MahaRERA has been able to register more than forty-six thousand projects out of which above fifteen thousand are already completed. In addition, it has received more than twenty-five thousand grievances about real estate activities. Of these complaints resolved at seventeen thousand while eight thousand are still pending.
The new leadership signifies a fresh beginning for MahaRERA towards guaranteeing even-handed and open-market real estate transactions within Maharashtra.
